I want to disable the sound that Firefox plays when nothing is found
when using Find In This Page. Can this be done and if so how?

I assume you are using Windows! You have to change it in the Sounds
Schemes. Change the setting for Program error to none. For how to do this:

For XP

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...oundscheme.mspx

For win98

Thank you for your reply. But I do not think this is the problem. At
the moment the "Sound scheme" setting is set to No Sounds. I do not
hear any other sounds coming from Windows or other programs when
errors occur.

Do you know of anything else that I could try?

Also I am using Firefox on Windows XP.

Try toggling the "accessibility.typeaheadfind.enablesound" value to
false in about :config. Restart Firefox after doing so.

That worked! Thanks very much. Also the about :config thing is a good
tip to know about.
