Firefox generating bookmark.html every 20s
|
|
|
| Hello All,
We just installed Firefox 2.0.0.1. We're using Windows XP. Firefox is
hogging CPU time and we've discovered that it is generating a bookmark.html
file in the Profiles folder approximately every 20s.
I love Firefox and have it installed on 3 other computers without any
problems. I would hate to have to go back to IE because of this.
Has anyone else heard of this problem with Firefox?
Thanks in advance for your help!

| We've managed to fix the problem.
We closed Firefox, deleted all the bookmarks from the profile folder, and
delted the localstore.rdf file. We then removed the write-protection from
the all the folders from Firefox and the folders within. Of courses we then
had to import the bookmarks from IE. But our problem is gone!

If the problem is encountered again, just save a copy of the latest
bookmarks.html file. No need to import from IE.

The hilarious thing about self-important self-righteous people is that
they are so easily baited.

You dont need to go back to IE, just go back in Firefox versions. I
use Firefox 0.9 and that is all I will use. Every version since has
been bug ridden. I had kept a backup of 0.9 and upgraded to 1.0. I
had some problems but lived with them. Then I installed 2.0 and all
hell broke loose. I deleted the whole installation and went back to
0.9. As with most software, it reaches a level of quality, then the
bloat and upgrade monsters take over because far too many people
believe that any software that isn't upgraded at least a few times per
year is no good. So these companies make upgrades just for those
people, and most of the time they just add problems while adding
useless garbage. If firefox continues on the current upgrade path
they will soon be far worse than IE. Of course no one is forcing
anyone to upgrade other than a few websites that refuse to work on
older software. But I always have an answer to those websites.... Its
called "goodbye site".
