Thunderbird won't retrieve Comcast E-mail ("No New messages on Server"- but

Having gone nearly 24 hours without any e-mail downloading from any of
my 5 Comcast accounts, I thought I would log on as a webmail user.
Turns out there are actually messages in my inbox on several accounts.
When I retrieve messages through Thundebird, I get the usual messages
about "connected to Comcast" and no problem messages and then "there
are no new messages on the server". None of my settings have changed.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem with Comcast. And any
suggestions as to what can be done to make T-bird working
