Another 2.0.0.2 Problem

| It won't let me add new bookmarks. Has this already been mentioned? If so,
perhaps someone has the solution?
When I try to bookmark a site, I click "OK" but nothing happens.

Maybe a read-only bookmarks.html? Or a read-only folder?
User-policies?

| I seem to be able to load the same sites on an earlier version of FF, and on
IE.

Um, and how does "loading" a site relate at all to your original problem
of not being able to /save/ a bookmark?

| I mis-spoke. Correction follows: I seem to be able to
SAVE )i.e."bookmark") the same sites on an earlier version of FF,
> and on IE.
Further question: how do I get back to an earlier version of firefox? This
new version is more trouble than it's worth.

Let's start out from scratch, eh? You haven't told us how you upgraded,
what you upgraded, when the problem started, what the problem really is,
etc. In other words, I'm kinda at a loss to figure out where you are.
One thing to try is using the Profile Manager to create a new - clean -
profile. Run FF in that clean profile. Copy your bookmarks.html file
to the new profile. Same troubles? If you need help doing this, post
back here. And please post your replies at the bottom of messages:
That is, bottom-post. Not a requirement but most of us follow this form
here and it will be appreciated. And it saves us cutting and pasting
your messages from top to bottom to maintain the continuity of the thread.

ACK.
But if you anyway want to try an earlier version of FF, go here:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/moz...refox/releases/
I don't think this will solve your special problem, but it's up to you.

True, the problem will probably still exist once the OP has backtracked.
Best advice it to respond to Ed's questions, and work with him on it.

just format your whole drive. Firefox is obviously too much work for
you. go back to IE.

Posting at the end of the stream as requested.... Thank you for the new
profile suggestion, that worked just fine. I can now add bookmarks to the
bookmark folders.
Here's another question: when I have several tabs open in the same window,
and I try to close one, I get a dialog box telling me it will close two or
more, and when I click OK it closes the window. Is there any way to just
close one tab without closing the others or the entire window? I've looked
in the "Tab" section of Options, but there doesn't seem to be an alternative
(at least one that is clear to me.

Start FF in Safe Mode and test to see if this still happens.
Do you have any extensions installed?
How are you opening those multiple tabs?
Do you have more than one FF window open when this happens?

Example of what happens: I go into, say, Foodtv and then open several links
within that window, drilling down into specific types of recipes, and then
to a specific recipe. When I close the last recipe, it doesn't just close
that tab, it closes the entire window (i.e. back to desktop). It does this
in safe mode as well. I have no extensions installed, nor are there any
pother FF windows open.

Try creating a new profile and see if happens there. Also see if
starting in Safe Mode in a clean profile helps. If that doesn't fix it,
try uninstalling FF and reinstalling the latest version.
