How in firefox do i find out about the new groups, i know in outlook there
was a way. can anyone help me

Firefox is a web browser, Outlook is an e-mail reader etc. Are you
looking for a way to find new newsgroups with Thunderbird?

Yes how do i do it with thunderbird

Right click on the newsgroup account, and select Subscribe. When the
dialog comes up, click the Refresh button to see any groups that have
been added to that server.
