opening a file with alternate program

| when i click on a .nfo file, which is just text, not the Microsoft
MS.Info document, Firefox asks me what i'd like to do with this file.
i'd like to open the file with the notepad (C:\windows\notepad.exe)
which FF allows me to do. the problem is that (still) FF doesn't allow
me to set the checkbox for "Do this automatically for files like this
for now on" which means that i have to trudge through the dirs again,
every time, to find the notepad.exe and open the file this way. i've
been using FF for quite a while now, and this option STILL isn't
available. i've had help in this group before with mimetypes, which was
great. but does anyone know if this option will ever be available to us?
thanks again.

Why are you using Firefox in this situation at all? Are you viewing
these .nfo files online?

err, yes? since it's just a little easier to click on the file and view
it than click on it, save it, go to another window and dbl-click on
that. that's just retarded.

my premium news service is allowing me to use .nfo files, so that i know
what's in an archive before i download it. it's entirely my own choice.
i just wish i could get FF to use an alternate, that's all.
