Yahoo Photos EasyUpload Tool & FF2

| I tried to install the Yahoo Photos EasyUpload Tool, but got the
following showstopper.
"Yahoo Photos Easy Upload Tool 2006.4.17 could not be installed
because it is not compatible with Firefox 2.0.0.3. (Yahoo Photos Easy
Upload Tool 2006.4.17 will only work with Firefox versions from 1.0
1.99"
I seem to recall that if you are lucky you can perform a hack
somewhere or other to make extensions compatible with new FF versions.
Help!

I am not sure I know what you mean. I never got as far as attempting
to upload a file, if that is what you mean. I did try a standard
extension download and installation from Yahoo.
Unfortunately, I can't send you to the Yahoo download page as you only
seem to be able to access it if you are signed into My Photos on
Yahoo. Anyway, I wated the 3 seconds, then clicked on the "Install"
button. Things seemed to be happening as usual, then I got the
showstopper.
Here is a link from Yahoo Answers.

On the above page, I clicked on the recommended link to Nightly Tester
Tools. That page, however definitely advised against the recommended
method.
I think I am stuck until Yahoo updates this tool, or I will have to
use IE :-(

oh crap!!!! I did it again. I gave the wrong response to the wrong
thread.
So Sorry.
What you want is Mr Tech to bump up the version number for the
extension you want: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fi...r+tech&status=4

Cool Extension! It allowed me to "install" the tool by telling the
download not to check for compatibility. However, the tool does not
show up in the "Extension Options" that this extension added to the
Tools Menu.
In Tools>Add-ons>Extensions, the Upload Tool showed up, but its
"Options" is grayed out. Furthermore, when I do go back to Yahoo My
Photos, it is as if the tool were never installed, and I have to try
again. Which I did to no avail!
As I said, I think I will just have to wait or use IE. I did use IE,
and the Tool is awesome. Just drag and drop any number of .jpg files
from Explorer to the upload webpage, then click "Upload", and it's all
done. There is "unlimited" storage, and the files are stored full size
and can be downloaded at full size by friends, etc.

Please don't be sorry! It's understandable, considering the amount of
advice that you donate to this forum. Thank You!

Thank you. I have bookmarked that page for future reference. However,
the method failed in this instance because when I right-clicked on the
"Get Easy Upload Tool" icon, there was no "Save Link As" in the
context menu, so I could not download the file and modify it, as
suggested at onetipaday.com.

I just installed the Yahoo! Photos Easy Upload Tool 2006.10.5 extension
in FF2.0.0.3 and was able to drag photos from Windows Explorer to the
Upload Photos page. Upload Tool 2006.10.5's Options button is grayed
out too.

I still can't use the tool until I change the tab to IE, using "IE
Tab". Then it works great, altho' if I sit and watch, I have to look
at ads. Once the upload is finished, I click on the IE icon and am
returned to the bosom of FF, where everything then works great.

Are you using Upload Tool 2006.10.5?

No, it is 2006.4.* (I am not sure of the last digit, as I write this
on another computer). I noticed that the xpi file had a name including
"en-ca", so perhaps Yahoo is keeping us Canucks in the stone age.
Anyway, on this computer I googled "2006.10.5" and found some non-
Yahoo sites hosting it. So, I downloaded and installed on this machine
(it included "en-us").
Guess What! Same results. Works like a charm in IE Tab, but does not
work in regular FF. Actually, I don't think the extension is doing
anything, as I believe IE Tab really is IE, and it made me follow an
installation wizard of the tool in IE tab. I just checked IE and found
that the tool is installed in IE, presumably from following the wizard
in IE tab.
So, Thanx for the help, but so far, not so good. However, as I have an
easy workaround, I think I'll admit defeat.
