Firefox used to open from links in email until this week. I had modem
problems and replaced the DSL modem Tuesday. I noticed the links weren't
working right soon after.

I have FF set as my default browser. During setup of the new modem, some
things got screwed up and I ended up having Dell tech service help me get
up and running.

We re-installed XP from the disk sent with the computer and all seems
well, otherwise. But no action from links.

I use Pegasus mail and have it set to underline and make links clickable.
It's always worked before and I didn't change anything there. I went back
and re-checked to make sure but all is as it used to be.

Any ideas what could be the problem? Could IE6 that comes with the
installation be the problem? I have FF set as default and I can't think of
any other things to check.

Any ideas would be appreciated. TIA.

Close FF, and open IE, then click on Tools, Internet Option,
Programs tab, and at the bottom is something about making IE
the default. Check it. Now, close IE and reopen it, then
close it again. Now open FF and it should ask if you want to
make FF the default. Yes. Do the links work now?

Did this -- a couple of times to be sure.

Nope. The first re-open, it didn't ask so I made it the default in
'tools' menu and checked the box to check each time it started.

Links wouldn't open. Did all the steps again and this time, it asked to
make FF the default browser.

Checked 'yes', tested links, still not working. Shut down FF, restarted
(now as default) and tried links again, still no dice.

Anything else you can think of?

And thanks for your time.

since you're using xp, there is another setting, somewhere,
and I don't know where, whereby you can make any program the
default at startup. Perhaps someone else knows how to do that.

Well, I went back and made IE my default browser and links still didn't
work from email.

I'm kinda guessing it may be a Pegasus problem so I sent an email to the
tech forum over there to see what they come up with.

It seems to not be a FF problem. If you have any ideas I'd be glad to hear
them but it looks like my mail program could be the culprit.

Thanks again for the info and time.

no, its not a FF problem, and I don't think its a Pegasus
problem either. Its an XP problem. Its not letting FF be
the default. As I said, there IS another setting, but I
don't know where it is.
