| I am monitoring a DL380 server with Netware 6.5 SP3, Apache 2.0.52, and PHP
4.2.4. There are other applications on the server but do not appear to be
pertinent to this issue. For the last several months this server has
abended after about a week of operation. The abends are not occurring with
the same nlms, and the server's fate is sealed after receiving a "Cache
memory allocator out of available memory." error followed by several of the
these errors. Once the Cache memory allocator error is received the server
abends approx. 30 minutes later.

Server logical address space is running low. Increase the available
logical space by restarting the server with the -u676102144 switch

Short term memory allocator is out of memory.
1 attempts to get more memory failed.
request size in bytes 16777232 from Module APACHE2.NLM
After closing the X server application the server appeared to be running
better, but over the last couple of days the nss.nlm and apache2.nlm have
been increasing in size. NSS.nlm started around 50MB and is now at 90MB,
and Apache2 started at 9MB and is now 42MB. These increases in memory
appear occur during our busy web traffic hours, and do not shrink after
these traffic slows down. My assumption is that these nlms are not freeing
memory, but have not found any patch or article that support or fix my
theory. Any assistance is greatly appreciated even if it is just another
resource to research.
Thanks in advance.

| As a minimum you need to apply nw65os3a and n65nss3a to fix memory
management issues. If running CFS you also need 65cifs22a.
Have you tried to tune the memory config with -u, edir cache size, or
NSS parameters? If so undo all those and let NW handle it all.
