Below is a segment of my conf file. Apache 2.0 server is Provost NW6.5.
The first segment serves up a file on server Usher NW6.5 in the same
branch of a large tree. The second segment is parallel, but Server BPIR
is NW5.1 and in an adjacent branch. Both branches come from branch
Provost. The page from BPIR gets: "file does not exist" in the browser
and "[Tue Sep 20 16:48:24 2005] [error] [client 152.3.231.13] could not
create path context. error: 117" in the Apache log. Is the problem
because a) BPIR is NW5.1? b) BPIR is in a different branch from Provost?
or c) I don't know how to specify the server properly.

Thanks, Bob

That's the most likely reason IMO. Locating a server in the tree simply
by its name isn't always a straightforward process, especially in a
large, partitioned tree with multiple SLP scopes.

I would start with using the IP address of BPIRT first to see if that helps.

alias /myweb "10.10.10.10/more:/bob/myweb"

Or the volume object name.

alias /myweb "BIRT_MORE.OU.O:/bob/myweb"
alias /myweb ".BIRT_MORE.OU.O:/bob/myweb"

Also check if the result from "display slp services" on the apache
server includes BIRT.

Tried all those formats and a few more eg.
cn=bpir.ou=provost.o=university also with commas instead of dots.
Display slp services shows BPIR as a nwserver.novell. I'm not sure if
any other service is needed for this.

Thanks, Bob
