Author Creating a custom login page

I have a NW 6.5 server, Apache2 that I have set up a Virtual Server for our
Intranet. I want to add a custom login page similar to the ones used for
iManager, etc. rather than a Windows pop up login box that works if you use
the secure login methods routinely configured in the httpd.conf file. I am
not a web developer so I do not have much experience with html. Does anyone
know of a good resource to step me through either modifying an existing
login page that uses eDirectory or LDAP credentials? I would also want to
incorporate Password Self Service at some point. Thanks for any help.
