Apache authentication from external hosts only

| Hi,
On NW6.5 sp4a, I've got an Apache 2 server working as an Intranet server.
While I can get authentication to work, what we'd really like is for local
hosts to be able to hit the site without having to authenticate, but have
authentication active for anyone who tries to hit the site from the outside.
Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK do you have to do it by having two hosts (virtual) one only answers on a
certain IP range, the other answers on all and requires authentication. HAve
you checked out www.apache.org?
