According to Novell's documentation you can use different tools depending
on the base os (netware or linux)
Netware
-------
1) NetStorage (http://hostname/NetStorage)
2) Remote Manager (NRM) (http://hostname:8008)
3) Novell Client (from a workstation)
4) "rights" command for netware
Linux
-----
1) NetStorage
2) Novell Client
3) "rights" command for linux
To this list I would add ConsoleOne. However ConsoleOne doesn't seem to
handle attributes for linux-nss nor does it properly display effective
rights for linux-nss. I assume it would work for netware just as it
always has. Also I've seen that when changing group memebership using
ConsoleOne (and perhaps other tools, though I haven't verified it) you
need to use the nsscon utility to update security equivalence or rights
don't seem to propogate:
# nsscon
oes-server> nss /forcesecurityequivalenceupdate
oes-server> exit
hope that helps

ok ,
but not very comfortable.
to sell a product like oes on sles we need an effective administration
tool. every server system needs to configure user rights on the data.
this is the most important ( and usuallay the first ) item to
administrate a nos.
the arguments to sell netware servers allways aimed to the better
administration options of novell.
with a system like this we cannot compete to msc anymore.
imagine an old styled netware administrator who worked with nwadmn32 and
console1 for years now has to create users and groups in imanger or via
console commands. than he has to login as admin and configures the file
trustees with explorer snapin ?
for me it looks like this product is shipped to early.
if any novell develloper would have offered such a solution a few years
ago he had been fired immediatly.

| You must have misunderstood the you can't in Imanager perhaps there should
have been more detail. You can't in iManager but you can in netstorage, and
Remote Manager. It is not that the tasks cannot be accomplished they just
can't in the tool you were trying to use!
