I was chatting w/ Neil when I got something like a time-out bug. The
text chat and monitor stops working after a certain period of
inactivity. Is that a known problem?

Thanks,
Bill

Well there is a bug with FCS which may have been fixed with the latest FM=
SII beta but I have not confirmed it. Basically if you are using SharedOb=
jects and proxying them, within a certain situation, and the garbage coll=
ector comes by all the vars that the RSO's where set to become invalid. =
I did test for the original FMSII beta and it too had the bug but I was t=
old at MAX that it was fixed. But since the hurricane etc.... I haven't h=
ad time to test.
=20
are you proxying?
=20
cheers

Hi Beto,

Thanks for that info. I'm not using proxies. I'm using shared objects
in two different ways. One is to fire updates from the server side
and the other is simply for chat. However, if one of the parts is
dormant for a while, it tends to die. I don't to a lot of text chat
stuff, and so I don't run into a lot of situations where you have no
a/v to keep things alive.

I guess I could use a hack with setInterval(). Other ideas?

Thanks,
Bill

I would try and replicate the bug and then zip it and send to the list...=
We should see, if it can be replicated, if MM can put it on the todo li=
st.

Beto,

It's pretty much out there now. It's the app I sent out earlier
today. When I left the room up w/o any attention for a while, it
timed out. I'll see if an occasional goose works. The problem may
well have been fixed in FMS 2; so I'll try it out on my LAN where I
have FMS 2 up and running and see if I run into the same problem.

BTW, anyone on this list who wants the source code is welcome to it
(FLA). It's just that text chat app with the external room.

Thanks,
Bill
