| Hi,
I finally finished my textchat app the way I want it. It's got an
external "room" where all of those currently chatting are listed
whether you have the chat app running or not. If you see someone you
want to chat with, click the "Tincan Chat" header and it'll open the
text chat.
Here's the URL: http://nemo.hartford.edu/~wsanders/tincan/
tincanhere.html
Here's the FLA/ASC file: http://nemo.hartford.edu/~wsanders/
tincanchat.zip
This whole project started because this mailing list got shut down.
Stefan has a free online text chat at FlashMediaGuru as well. (BTW,
Stefan and FlashComGuru got kudos from On2 (the folks who provided
the new video codec for Flash 8) for setting up the comparative F7/F8
video display. (Check out http://www.on2.com to get a look.)
One thing about the Fla files. I was developing on an LAN, and so
change the rtmp variable to rtmp:/tincanchat/ without the LAN URL and
drop one of the double slashes -- "//" to "/" if you 're using a
single machine for both app and server.
Feel free to use it whenever you want. This one won't fade if it just
sits there and eats beans -- I gave it something to ping/return.
Regards,
Bill
