Minimalist Project

| Hello All,
This is follow up to Aaron's suggestion about creating some kind of
beginner's tutorial for FMS 2. This is something I've got to do
anyway, and it occurred to me that this might be a way to involve
others on this list in a project to help users get started. Each
element would include a very specific feature of FMS 2 and/or a
process. For example, a minimalist a/v chat would seem to be a
project, while the use of the new server side File class would be
another.
Here is a list of possible salient elements:
1. Feature or process -- a short description of what's being shown
2. An explanation of what the feature or process does
3. A specification of classes from cs and ss required.
4. An example that uses the feature or shows the process (All FLA,
ASC and supporting AS files)
This is what would not be included....
1. FMS 2 components (UI components would be ok.)
2. Poor practices
3. Complex processes that obscure the feature
However, it could include....
1. How to create a FMS 2 component
2. Use of Design Patterns to demonstrate how to create a Design
Pattern in FMS 2
3. Complex processes that use minimum elements to show that process
4. User classes
5. An optimizing process (e.g., how to optimize camera, audio in a
given context.)
To each minimalist example , members of this list could add comments
and/or enhancements to the minimalist examples. Because of the wide
variety of experiences and backgrounds of those on this list and the
minimalist requirements, I think that a lot of us could be involved.
Those who wish could copyright their materials with the understanding
that anything they put up could be used by others as long as a
copyright notice were included giving them credit. Otherwise, the
materials would be Open Source (public domain.)

| Seems like a good Idea Bill.
If there's any way I can chip in, I'll do my bit
