| The latest Squeeze also does 2pass for VP6 as well as Spark.
The Flash exporter has no explicit 2pass option and I therefore believe it's
1 pass only. Actually I am pretty sure it is.

squeeze to encode to it. And it's another $200... ouch.

I guess what Jesse meant was: does Flash support 2pass for VP6, and I think
the answer is no.

Jesse, to be clear :
In osx, the video encoder that shipped in the time of Flash MX 2004=20
(Video Encoder 1.2, I suppose) did get the 2 Pass Spark encoding.
(This feature didn't appear at first in the version 1)
But, the new video encoder utility that ships with Flash 8 only do 1=20
Pass encoding with the both codecs !
This is obviously a regression from Macromedia !
So unfortunatly for us that have made the step of upgrading, we loose 2=20=
Pass encoding from MM tool.
> =
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/fl...rter_print.html
But these article speak of the first (1.2) version of the video encoder=20=
that still had this 2 Pass feature for Spark only.
**polemic** Where is the legendary backward compatibily ? **end of=20
polemic**
To continue the discussion :
- Flix pro is a good tool BUT can't insert CuePoints in the FLV.
(MM Video Encoder can)
So If you want good quality video encoding, just forget cuepoints.
- Flix Pro Is quiet hard to use as a batch utility.
His Applescript dictionnary is quiet inexistant=85
We loose the abilitiy of the so-called "watch folder" of Sorenson=20
Squeeze.
(a folder that launch automatically an encoding process when a new file=20=
is put inside)
(For the windows only user, Applescript is a language that could=20
control applications, as soon as they ship with a special API)
If anyone wants to complete these overview=85
Conclusion :
There is actually no real professional encoding tool to produce FLV=20
content.
This is a kind of bummer as I thought it was a priority for the Flash=20
platform=85
HTH
Cheers.
