Hello All,

Did any of you see this?

http://www2.sys-con.com/webinararchive.cfm?pid=35

It's a Webcast put on by a company called Sys-Con Media. The content
is a presentation by IBM, Sun, Microsoft, JBoss, BEA, and Oracle
about their application servers. Can anyone tell if it's done w/ FCS?
(The presentation is not pay-per-view, so you can look at it w/o
getting charged.)

Thanks,
Bill

I am not sure Bill but I have built something that's almost identical to
this and I have managed to do so using progressive download. Of course this
doesn't mean that this also does.

Very interesting to hear how these app servers are priced :-)

Hint hint.

It is definitely streaming powered by a server at port 1935.
Th video is rather long. If it was progressive you wouldn't be able to scru=
b
the slider around and see different part of the stream almost instantly.
With progresive you can only se what you have downloaded. And the loading i=
s
liniar.

If you check the xml file archive_config.xml that is used in the flash=20
movie, you will see this line:
"<commserver type=3D"string">fcs2.stream57.com</commserver>"
With a name like that it is probably made in flashcom.

Interesting development - need to play with that :-)

However, as i wrote the sys-con video was streaming/comming from port 1935.
I would be kinda a waste to use fcs bw for progressive ;-)
....at least with the pre-fms deal

If you do a 'netstat -ano' in a cmd window you can see that going to
this site creates a connection on 1935 -

TCP 192.168.2.11:35966 69.9.37.226:1935 ESTABLISHED
5020

A good indicator that it is being done with FCS.

I just got around to reading the lists for the day. I'm flattered that you
guys would netstat my app and check out the config files! The app is
probably our most simple ones, as is appropriate for the application.

Sys-con does live webcasts with us weekly. This one was from a studio in
nyc, but a lot of them are self produced by the developers who are
presenting. It's a cool experience to get to work with these incredibly
talented guys, in the studio or otherwise. Check out the schedule at
http://webcast.sys-con.com/
