Open a pdf file from a projector on CD?

I need to open a pdf file (cross platform) from a projector running
from a cd.
You used to be able to do this, but I guess it got too risky.

Is there a solution without buying expensive third party apps?

Is there another list this should maybe be on, sorry if this is not it?

I was once having the same problem and fscommand can only do so much. I
ended up making a little app in director and turned it into a projector and
then executed the director app with fscommand and let the director thing
open files because it was a little smarter. I don't have the source files
with me but it was the best way that I found. Director has a bunch of in and
out things but with plug-ins you can set it up however you would like. The
thing I made opened any file that was in a folder that was named the same
thing as what itself was named. It was the only way I figure out how to
have files that are interchangeable for a user that doesn't mess with any
code. But it is true this isn't really the right place for this post. Hope
this helps. -Tyler
