Jake and others,

Thanks for the responses.
I was just trying the fscommand ("exec", "my.pdf") before I posted this.
I have the pdf in the "fscommand" directory at the same level as
the base swf.
No luck anyone, anyone I just want to have it open a pdf document
when they select it.
this used to be fairly easy.

As far as expensive I mean 3rd party apps or extensions that cost
almost as much as flash itself 200+ USD

Use FreeMx for windows cdrom / macmax for mac cdrom partitions. These free
extensions will open pdfs properly from a projector.

Well you could always look into screenweaver... it was just
opensourced!
