Hey Flashcom people,
I am looking for some notes regarding playing flash(chat app) on a Mac
w/IE?

Not surprising, but it doesn't work. I am curious as to why?

Take care...

Do you have a link we could try?

Also, remember that IE on a mac was last updated in like 2001. Does it
work with Safari and Firefox/Mozilla?
Are you using any other browser scripting that might cause probs, or is
it all in flash?

Hello,
I'm currently testing my project on a Mac-Safari and all I can say is that
except a different way of showing the fonts inside chat everything's ok.
Please feel free to ask any question you want, if I can help I certainly do.

Ops,
it's the same for IE. But as far as i know the Apple's community prefers
Safari instead of IE.

Mac is slower in its processing, so be sure you're waiting for
NetConnections to connect and so forth. Also, if you're using iSight,
you have to change your camera settings in Flash to the FireWire
Camera device. Those are a couple of things I've run into the last
couple of weeks while developing some broadcast apps for Mac/PC. I'm
still working with it, so I'm sure I'll have more information shortly.

Cheers

Other than my business partner, I don't know a single Mac user that uses
IE anymore. It's pretty much all Safari or Firefox.

IE.

Also.. FWIW, every school "mac" lab I've been to in recent memory still
have Mac's on OS9.x, all with IE5.x?

It's all about your intended audience..

Hmm. Every home user I know uses Safari.

Are we talking OS X here? IE was the only real option on OS 9 but
Safari is the default unless you change it to IE.

Ah yes, good point there.

I've not noticed any FlashCom-specific problems with Mac IE under
either OSX or OS9. I'm still hoping that the person who started this
thread will post a URL so we can have a look at what might be going on.
FWIW, I develop on a Mac and try to keep up with all the various
cross-platform/browser issues. This doesn't ring any bells for me.

Best regards,

Jim

That's a good point, but outside of that kind of environment, pretty much
every Mac user I know has made the shift to OSX. 2004 seemed to me to be
a real sea change -- my observation was that the numbers just changed
quantumly...

I have a single client who still uses 9, but she uses a PC for mail and
web surfing.

>It's all about your intended audience..

This much is certain. Since Christopher didn't mention a particular
market, I assumed he was asking generally.
