Does anyone know if Nigel's comment app
(http://www.markme.com/nigel/msgBoar...sgBoardFeedBack)
is available as a tutorial either on Macromedia's site or as part of
one of the DevCD's?

I have about 60% of it done on my own but there are portions I'm still
trying to figure out. All part of my attempts to get a little closer
to Halo and v2 components, datagrid etc.

Sincerely,
Simon

Actually, I'm about to do that. I'm just lining up things to do/learn
this week. My project involves FCS and commenting, so I have a
datagrid and output field which surprisingly look and work almost
identically to Nigel's. I'm keen on seeing how he slapped the tree
component on there but I suspect it's not too hard to do - it looks
like he has a single xml source feeding both the tree and datagrid.
I'll try to get that working too. But what I like is his text editor,
I'm still trying to get my learn on with regards to stylesheets etc and
so my bet is that I'd learn a fair bit (at least what I need to learn
this week) by tearing into that messageApp.swf file.

I can't believe it's been around since 2003, why hasn't there been a
write up on this yet?

Thanks.

well if you look into the methods available for the tree menu class, you would be happily surprised as to what you can do with it. Recently, I developed an application which required attaching nodes as branches and leafs at various levels, and all done wi
th remoting data. Combining methods from XMLNode, treeNode classes worked very well for me. Heck, you can even create a tree structure menu with onSync if you feel being creative..

good luck with it, i would be very interested to know how you did the rich text part.

Let me save you some time; don't mess with CSS. Stylesheets applied to a
textfield make it uneditable, therefore, that's not going to work in a
RichTextEditor; stick to TextFormat instead.

Thanks Jesse, sorry for the delay in the thanks. Been outside for two
hours shoveling snow, by the time I got to the end of the yard there
was as much snow at the start as when I had begun. So I came in for a
coffee and a heart attack...

So TextFormat it is...
