Author streaming directly from SQL server? Or how?

Hi all,

A question from a FCS newbie who's still evaluating possibilities..

I wonder, is it possible for FCS (with help of Flash Remoting) to stream
files directly from SQL Server?

It seems to me that it can't be done: i.e., before streaming the file, it
needs to be retrieved from SQL server programmatically, placed in a FCS
application folder, and accessed from here.

Can someone please let me know from your experience what's the best way of
delivering a file from SQL server to a client - I imagine taking a 50+ M
file for streaming and copying it to FCS from SQL server would be quite a
load on the server's file system?

Thanks in advance

If you mean taking the FLV out of the DB from a BLOB and streaming it, then
no. You would have to take it out first, place it in the directory required
by FCS and then stream it out. In this case, you would be putting a large
strain on the server and it might be best to just not place the files in
there in the first place, but instead place a "pointer" to where the file
resides.
