Glad I didn't invest in Flashpaper :-)

Not sure yet how this will impact on us. One thing is for sure, it will have
a positive impact on some (products) and a bad one on others.
I am most concerned about how well Adobe will handle the server products
(and obviously that they stay committed to FCS which is sitting in a bit of
a niche). They haven't really been in that market before have they?

Adobe has been very ahead of the pack as far as video products (I
recently purchased the Adobe Video Collection Pro), BUT they really
don't have a streaming solution -- nothing like an FLV file format or
FCS or a way to move videos over the Internet. My fervent hope is that
they'll see the need for FCS and integrate it into their own solution.

To compliment what Bill said, Adobe was the low-end solution to post
production. Where as you had to purchase both a hardware & software
solution, both pushing $10k just to create TV commercials, using Adobe After
Effects ($700 at the time) and Sony's (formerly SonicFoundary SoundForge @
$400), my co-worker and I busted out a commercial in a weeks time.

Adobe helped spawn the print revolution, and did the same for video;
empowering the masses to create great content. This teaming up with FCS
seems promising.

As far as FlashPaper is concerned, it's not going anywhere. They
implemented many new functions specifically for it in the Flash Player
itself; abandoning it now wouldn't work; just like abandonnig FCS wouldn't
work; "NetStream... well, can't use that anymore...", naw, don't think so.
