| >Can we say that FCS is save?
In the quarterly profit-focused environment of public companies, I don't
think you can _ever_ declare _any_ product safe. I'd bet on FCS to stick
around, but in my mind, the relationship with Breeze is the biggest
issue. MACR has a service, and a product that lets developers compete
with that service. That's uncomfortable, at least to this developer...
>Is this PDF file somehow official?
It's from Forrester, so no. But since MACR is serving it from their
website, it's a lawsuit-in-waiting if the reality turns out to be
completely different in the short-term. (One rev on each of the products.)
That said, lawsuits are a cost of doing business for big technology
companies these days. There's a story that when Bud Colligan was running
MACR, the company was getting sued often enough (mostly bullshit
shareholder stuff) that his assistant started dating one of the process
servers...

| M=E1rio,
I think it's been good news for FCS from the onset because of the =20
"goodness of fit" between FCS and the video editing products from =20
Adobe. In a lot of the analyses I've read, the same theme keeps =20
coming up again and again-- two profitable companies and =20
"complimentary" products. We'll probably see "GoLive" disappear, but =20
I'd like to see a few (several perhaps) of its features in DW, and I =20
wouldn't hold my breath about seeing Fireworks around for too long =20
either or Flash Paper, for that matter. However, now that Adobe and =20
MM are no longer competing, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that =20
they'll integrate for strength with Microsoft providing competition, =20
along with Apple. (Apple's Quicktime and Broadcast products are =20
competitive with FCS, but they're nowhere near FCS as far as =20
developmental options are concerned.)
So, while I may be overly optimistic, I think this is good, and =20
Forrester is a trusted analyst, and while imperfect, they hit the =20
nail on the head with this one. (My sister-in-law used to work for =20
Forrester, and she thought well of them.)
Cheers,
Bill
