Flash and PowerPoint

| I am using the PresentationSWF to present some kind of PowerPoint
presentation (in SWF) to my students.
The problem is: Is there any way to easily convert from PP to SWF in a way
PresentationSWF accept it!?
Thank you,
Leonardo Opitz

| Leonardo,
We're using the Powerpoint to SWF created by
DreamingSoft (www.dreamingsoft.com). The conversion is
perfect and you can use loadMovie to load each slide
into your application. Check it out.

| Leonardo,
Forgot to mention the best feature: the conversion
takes place in the server. Therefore, you can build an
app offering built-in real-time conversion.

| Only problem is that it is bitmap based rather than vector. Basically,
it's jpeg conversion with a swf wrapper. Dreamingsoft works but it's in
a different league than the vector conversions from Accordent or Breeze.

| PowerConverter and Articulate Presenter do a great job converting, and
they maintain the vector format so the size is smaller. These products
are a little more expensive than others, and they're VERY expensive if
you want server-based conversion. They are the best I've seen so far
(possibly better than Breeze?)

| Yes, vector-based converted SWFs are great. But most
products rely on client-side conversion made with the
assistance of the user, mostly using the Powerpoint
interface, such as the way Breeze does. There are a
few good products and many not-so-good ones.
The thing about DreamingSoft is that it's server-based
and conversions can take place in a transparent way,
built in the application. And it's inexpensive: US$
499. There's a free demo if someone feels like having
a go.

| We've used the DreamingSoft one here, and while it's conversions are
accurate, it still requires Powerpoint on the server-side. Also, the
size of each slide is usually >70kb, whereas a vector conversion is
typically between 5-20k. The price is right though...

| These software are quite good, but does anybody know if there is a linux =
api
that can convert ppt to swf ?
Except Open Office that do the job but really bad (huge swf which can =
crash
computers with small ram)
Thanks,
