| Hello fellas,
Ever tried to create a swf with a combo box in it and then load that swf =
into a movie clip of another flash movie? The combo box loses is functional=
ity. The only way this applies is that I am writing a plugable interface =
for a flash com app I'm writing. So you can create pieces to the app as =
external swf files that are then loaded. Any ideas on how to get around =
this bug in the component?
Thanks,
Jake

| In the swf with the combobox, just add:
this._lockroot = true;
That should fix it.

| Having the combobox loaded into the root fla did work but it seems stupid =
that if you have all the code for the combobox in the loaded swf that you =
should have to have that same code duplicated again in the root one.
oh well.. thanks much guys.
Jake
try dragging an instance of the comboBox onto the stage of the _root=20
fla, then delete it from the stage
cheers

| One last thing....
You don't have to do that with the scrollpane or the list box. I wonder =
why the combo box is so different.

try dragging an instance of the comboBox onto the stage of the _root=20

It is because you can't attach symbols from one swf to the timeline of
another swf - and for the drop down to appear above all content it has
to be attached to the _root time line (at least the way the component
is currently written). This is just one of the frustrating issues of
SWFs in SWFs that I hope is dealt with in 8-ball.
