Our Flash Comm Server keeps crashing!
|
|
| Harper, Chris 2005-06-30, 5:45 pm |
| Hello,
=20
Just launched a new version of out chat and for some reason it dies
every hour or two. Here is a server log message that gets displayed
when it dies:
=20
Reporting queued error: faulting application FlashCom.exe, version
1.5.2.138, faulting module FlashCom.exe, version 1.5.2.138, fault
address 0x000d3aa6
=20
Has anybody ever experienced something like this before? I remember
hearing somebody saying that there is an issue with using setInterval on
server side.

I have tried using setInterval a few times but with minimal success.. it's =
just not reliable. I know MM said it was fixed but as per my experience it =
is still hit and miss. What platform you running this on? It resembles a =
memory error...

| It's a quad xeon server running windows server 2003 enterprise edition
The reason I was using a setInterval is because it seems my room app was
accepting connections from people before it could try and connect to the
lobby app so I was getting asynchronous problems. If the chat was being
run for the first time somebody connects to a room, starting that app on
flashcom, and then that room connects to the lobby, starting that app.
I used the setInterval to keep the room from accepting the connection
before the lobby app could be started and the shared object created.
Otherwise the first person getting on chat would have to have to connect
twice (not a horrible thing but a bug all the same). Is there a better
method?
Do you mean memory problem as in ram? I'm not convinced of that because
our old chat system which we rolled back to still works nominally.
Is there a way I can save the trace commands in the Live Log of the app
inspector to a text file automatically so I can see what was being
traced right before a crash?
Chris

| Hey Jake,
When you say you where having problems with the setInterval do you mean
it didn't work or that it was causing problems with the server, like
crashing?
Thanks!
Chris

| I should also mention that restarting the flash comm. service doesn't
help. We have to physically restart the machine to get it working
again.

| Huh, don't know why my response to this didn't come up.
Basically the event viewer just shows people trying to connect to the
old system that doesn't exist in the applications directory anymore.
Would that cause a problem or maybe make things crash? We then put the
old system back so some of the people who have the old chat cached could
still connect to it but the new system still crashed after about 2
hours.

| I've also seen the server-side setInterval stop working... even with the
latest update running on a win2k3 machines. But having the server crash, I
haven't.
Maybe your deleting by error the application instance, that will make the
whole flashcom server crash.
