Hi,
Has anyone come across a case whereby flv files recorded via webcam and FCS
end up with time codes that are way out? In my case the video starts with
AMF data (normal), then one audio frame, then 6 video frames with normal
time codes, then another 2 audio frames with timecodes that have jumped up
by 17 seconds from the previous frame.

The result is that upon playback the video halts for 17 seconds before
starting to play.

Anyone got an idea of what may cause this?

Stefan

I had a similar problem recording multiple times with the same stream name.
the first time all ok, the second time various tags was corrupted.

That could be it!
Did you find a workaround?

Are you saying that if the same stream name is used, you encounter
the problem, but if the stream name is changed, the problem goes
away? Most of what you describe I tend to get on SS record and pb but
occasionally on CS.

I am not sure yet but the probability is that the user has recorded 'over'
an existing recording

My recording is all done clientside.
Upon inspection I do not stop publishing, I just close the netstream.

Do you think stopping to publish before closing the stream may work?

Stefan

The only workaround I have found is to never use the same name, or
periodically delete the unused names.

Stefan,
when you stop recording, do you stop the puplishing before?

This is a dangerous bug.

Stefan,

Isn't ns.close() how you stop publishing? (It is according to the
docs, but that's not to stop experimentation.)

Are you suggesting:

ns.publish(null);
ns.close();

Stefan,

Let me append that last comment. If you're talking about the SS, then
you can issue a Stream.record(false) to stop recording. Was that what
you had in mind?

I think it may help because probably flashcom
has memery buffers to be written down on disk
and an explicit close may help.

Actually as I am doing it CS I am proposing

ns.publish(false); // according to the docs this is also how you stop
publishing
ns.close();

I tried this and it does not corrupt the flv. However mine where never
corrupt in the first place, another user had problems.

Time will tell on this one I guess.

Stefan

Stefan,

Thanks. I'll give it a try. My biggest problem with recording has
been that the playback is a bit shorter than the recording--
sometimes. So usually, I just record a little longer than what I need.

In the meantime, I've been trying to find time to get through Fabio's
materials.

I've seen the same sort of problem arise on some video's, but very rare.
It seems like it could have been caused in our case by the Client machine
being under too much stress. Probably caused by the client having too much
windows and processes running in the background, but I can't be sure.

Sadly but truly
Hope you find your bug

Fredz./

Stefan,
