| Hi. Does anybody knows if there is a limitation in defining network
Paths in the <streams> nodes in Vhost.xml?, Im trying to store mp3
files in another server and of course make a virtual directory, I have
set up 3:
<Streams>str2;Z:\</Streams>
<Streams>str5;\\data</Streams>
<Streams>str4;C:\tmp</Streams>
Z:\ is a mapping of \\data and doent't work
\\data is a network path, and doesn't work
c:\tmp is a test to a local path and this works ok.
thanks for your time.

| Don't use network paths and don't use mapped driveletters.
Use IP addresses instead, that'll work.
<Streams>str2;\\1.2.3.4\share</Streams>

| Thanks... this is very strange but still doesn't work. I'm sure one
time I did it with a letter mapping in a client server and worked w/o
problems, now I have this:
<Streams>strMp2;Z:\</Streams>=20
<Streams>strMp4;C:\tmp</Streams>=20
<Streams>strMp5;\\azul\desarrollos</Streams>=20
<Streams>strMp6;\\192.168.2.102\desarrollos</Streams>
And only strMp4 works, the virtual to a local path. Of course
copying/pasting the address in a explorer windows works and the mp3
file is in there.
I have search and found, for example, in this article:
http://www.peachpit.com/articles/ar...=3D31667&rl=3D1
they say "You need to provide a name for the stream alias, followed by
a semicolon ( ; ) and the full path to the directory you want to use.
You can use network paths as well, such as
\\myLocalServer\myShareName\myFolder."
If I can access the mappings, and network paths by Windows explorer
and clic on the mp3, so Flash Comm should be able to read it? I have
also checked and the name of the file in the 8.3 format is the same
"build.mp3" so I can discard that. I have also disabled the Firewall
in the mapped machine...

First, try with one mapping at a time. Also make sure you restart the server
after changing XML. Use the syntax that I provided with IP and post your
clientside code so we can check it out.

The flash comm server is in 192.168.2.104
The where the build.mp3 file is: 192.168.2.102
Yes, I have restarted the server when changed the mp3. I have now only
one mapping in the Vhosts.xml:
<VirtualDirectory>=20
<Streams>strMp3;\\192.168.2.102\desarrollos</Streams>=20
</VirtualDirectory>
I have made an screenshot: http://www.cuatromedios.com/ssfc.gif
And this is my client code:
// create a connection to the Comm Server application
nc =3D new NetConnection();
nc.onStatus =3D function(oInfo:Object) {
=09trace("> nc status > "+oInfo.code);
};
nc.connect("rtmp://192.168.2.104/appMp3_2");
// create a stream
ns =3D new NetStream(nc);
ns.onStatus =3D function(oInfo:Object) {
=09trace("> ns status > "+oInfo.code);
};
var streamName:String =3D "mp3:strMp3/build";
ns.play(streamName, 0, -1, true);
ns.onStatus =3D function(oInfo:Object) {
=09trace("> ns status > "+oInfo.code);
};

| I think that looks correct...
I have personally never used mp3 files with Flashcom - have you tried
playing a flv stream from the specified directory?
