| I know this may be a little off topic, but I am dying to get any
information that is available to the public.... With the new Adobe merge,
is there any plans for FCS 2.0? Or should we be humble with 1.5?
I really hope FCS 2.0 is in the works.... Even if we can just get the
server to AS 2.0 I would be a very happy man.
Thanks

| I doubt that the merger will affect potential development in any way. My gut
feeling is that we needn't be worried and this is something that some
Macromedia employees have made clear on several occasions on this list.
The only real public info is still summarised here
http://www.flashcomguru.com/articles/flashcom2.cfm
Isn't that right Chris? I tell you what, it must be that time of year again
:-)

if so can Santa bring mixing streams into one(Kind of like a FCS radio st=
ation where you could have democrats and republicans debating) maybe some=
thing like:
//your incoming streams
//in_ns1, in_ns2, in_ns3
out_ns.attachAudio(in_ns1,in_ns2,in_ns3);
that would be Super cool.
......just audio no need to do this for video.

| Be sure to also imagine the server load of decompressing every audio
packet, buffering the data a little bit to make sure it all stays in
sync, mixing every single sample (thousands of calculations per second
while checking for data overflow), and recompressing the output.
This would absolutely kill your server's performance, and couldn't scale
to large numbers of users. It's an interesting and potentially useful
feature, but it's not nearly as simple as it first seems.

| Well it sounds very complicated... but what about how each client
receive, for example 10 audio streams, and in the client it really
mixes to output to the speakers... can in some way the server act like
a client, receive whatever it will receive and send what is hearing?
some what-I-hear-is-what-i-send WIHIWIS he he he....
Has somebody do something like that: have a client swf running on the
server, receiving and playing several streams and then recapturing
them via the audio-card and sending them as the mixed stream to the
server? of course you could not have several instances of the app
running but may be a solution in some cases?

| You could do this...
Run a swf on the server that recieves all the incoming
audio streams->From the streams to the speaker-> From
there to a microphone->Back to the swf-> Into a stream
to the FCS and to all the clients..=20
:-)

| Tricky ... still we want this to be automated. Plus the last idea of mul=
tiple audio streams would kill anyone on a modem connection, the whole id=
ea is to use up less bandwidth.

| very messy...dont you think?

actually if they gave us lets say a possiblity of mixing 5 into one and y=
ou needed more mixed in. then you could send it to another instance to do=
the work for you....I am probably in the deepend here.lol that way you=
would multiply the number of streams you want to mix by the instances mi=
xing them so Numofinstances*5 =3D total streams mixed. probably still dr=
eaming and would require a pentium 20 TripleTerahrz processor with a cher=
ry on top LOL.

| Well...it is a hardcore solution...!
=20
Joining streams together would definitely be a good thing if it wouldn't =
be so hardware expensive!
If it's so hardware expensive it could be enabled/disabled from the Serve=
r.xml , just like Enhanced Seek right now!
