| I can confidently assure you that code plug-ins aren't going to happen
in Flash. As Andre mentions, it goes against many of the
characteristics that contribute to Flash's success.
If you need additional functions for a specific project, I suggest
taking a look at Director and Shockwave. It already has many additional
features, has supported plugins for years with a download mechanism, and
can connect to FCS via internal Flash support.

Subject: Re: [FlashComm] What FlashCom features do you want in a
futureversion of Flash?
Macromedia already does this. It's called Breeze.
I would actually argue against having developer created plugins, since
to
me, the basic underlying principles for flash is platform independence
and
ubiquity. As a developer, it's great to have a whole boatload of
features,
options and whiz bang effects. But at the end of the day, "the
experience
matters", so an end user should never be required to do more than login
to
system, and just go. Plus it would be a tech support nightmare if the
existence of one plugin caused another to malfunction, but the user had
no
clue why. (Centralized plugin approval by macromedia may deal with that
though...)
But, I digress.
What I want for flashcomm:
- AS2 (I had to say it...)
- Screen sharing (had to say that too)
- MUCH better development/debugging workflow. (Object tracing would
help,
but a full on debugger would be even better.)
- IDE integration w/ FLASH and/or ZORN and NOT Dreamweaver. I'm talking
full
code completion, syntax checking/highlighting the whole nine
- W3C reports
And to be clear, the only reason I ask for any of these things is so it
would easier to develop better integrated solutions, as opposed to
mediocre
solutions with a few cool features that end users never use.
flame on! ;)
