| Hey list,
=20
I was wondering if someone could give me a better explanation of what =
this
part of the license agreement that we all accept underlines.
=20
License Grants=20
1. You may install and use the Software on a single desktop computer
that has a Windows PC operating system (including desktop PC versions of
Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, ME and XP (Home and Professional), a Macintosh
desktop operating system, a Linux desktop operating system, or a Solaris
desktop operating system; provided, however, that, notwithstanding =
anything
contrary contained herein, you may not use the Software on any non-PC
product or any embedded or device versions of the above operating =
systems,
including, but not limited to, mobile devices, internet appliances, set =
top
boxes (STB), handhelds, PDAs, phones, web pads, tablets, game consoles, =
TVs,
DVDs, gaming machines, home automation systems, kiosks or any other =
consumer
electronics devices or mobile/cable/satellite/television or closed =
system
based service. A license for the Software may not be shared, installed =
or
used concurrently on different computers.
=20
The part on which I=92m having problem understanding is pretty much the =
second
part of the paragraph which mentions in which situations you may not use =
the
software. What if I wanted to put the player in a gaming machine? Or a
kiosks!?
=20
Do we need to agree to another license for those? And what about people =
on a
BSD operating system? They could =93Emulate=94 linux and run the flash =
player on
netscape! Hehe?=20
=20
Are they actually not allowed to do so by agreeing this?
=20
Also, the installer that we can download, can we not just send it to a
friend on msn? Is that what they mean by not being allowed to share a
license?=20
=20
=20
Excuse me for my ignorance, if these questions sound dumb :-)
=20
Any more details on what =93can NOT be done=94 would be interesting.
