Are there samples on how to do this with a cgi setup? We are
creating an FLV with FFMPEG and as FFMPEG appends a jpg to the FLV
we'd like to add some metadata which will be read at runtime for that
frame.

It's the first time we've tried to add metadata to an FLV while it's
being generated so it'd be helpful to hear from someone that has done
this.

A sample on how to inject metadata at the beginning of the FLV would
be equally as helpful - we're flying blind at the moment.

Best using Captionate from Buraks - the man that can.

Hi,

Thanks James.

For Metadata injection I'm aware of 2 free tools.

One of them is our FLVMDI, which is already updated for Flash 8 video and
data. ( www.buraks.com/flvmdi ). (While I'm writing to this list, I'd like
to thank Bill Sanders for his nice words about FLVMDI).

The other is FLVTool2 which should be better suited for online injection (
http://www.inlet-media.de/flvtool2/ ). I haven't used it, so I cannot say
how good it is, but I assume it's at the least OK.

Of course, Captionate can also inject metadata. We will be releasing v2 with
Flash 8 codec and cue points support before the end of September.

Best regards,
Burak
