| Hi,
I know it's a little bit off topic and that I problably should have sent
it to the Flashcoders ML, but I think I have pretty good chance that
people toying with Flashcom for quite a time have heard about it ...
I'm currently working on a project that needs a cheap alternative to
sharedObjects to push data to Flash Clients.
I've managed to get one using XMLSocket and a rudimentary PERL XMLSocket
server. The point is that the 15 lines PERL Script doesn't offer much
security, and I'm kind of new to PERL even if I've been working on PHP
for quite a time.
So I tried to search for robust XMLSocket servers that could allow a
good number of simultaneous connections, offer client access
restrictions (login/password authentification or IP/Domain based ...),
may'be DB connectivity
All I found was Java-based XMLsocket servers, some free, some expensive
(I need something between 300 and 2000 users).
The point is it has to be very lightweight (as my PERL script is) to be
run on a light Linux RedHat server (1.4 celeron).
Doing some research, I found info about 2iceMP "open source multiuser
platform" http://www.ventoline.com/v2/
It is claimed on the website that the server was planned to be released
open-source around March/April 2004, but, while I can find interviews,
news bits about its planned released, I can't find anything like an
official released anounce.
No download page, no related site, no project that looks like it on
sourceforge, etc..
Does anyone know what happened ? I can't find the main author e-mail ..
Thanks
