Is true that the FMS2 licensing is cpu based?

you buy a $5000 license for a server and you don't have bandwidth limitations?

It's possible, but still unclear. The official anser is just "starting a
$4500", without any specifics. I know the beta has a bandwidth limit of like
5 megs or something.

I haven't seen any userlimits being mentioned anywhere.
My guess is as good as anyones but from the press release it sounds that
licensing is per 2-CPU per Pro License.

Sounds like an improvement to me if this is the case.

The big question is will hosts honor that? Meaning, will MediaTemple,
Influxis, et. al. stop charging for bandwidth packages, and instead align it
with just user caps? I'd assume they'd at least lessen them significantly.

Hi Stefan,
Well, the public beta has a 5000 client limit:

http://www.macromedia.com/software/...er/public_beta/

"Unlimited bandwidth and up to 5,000 simultaneous connections."

Who knows?

Yours truly,
-Brian

Bandwidth is still a cost, flashcom limitations or not.

So maybe they will decrease prices (keeping same earnings) but bandwidth
packages will remain.

When I saw that the public beta has NO bandwidth limit I got very
excited... and then calmed down. I hope this is a sign that the
licensing has changed to per CPU but its not concrete yet.

The FCS2 beta has so many connections and no bandwith
limit so that you can all STRESS TEST (without any
such restrictions which eventually can be removed) all
those n way high quality video, very demanding,
applications I know you all are working on!
