Looking for a capture cards that are compatible with
the FMS. All I ever get on searches is Osprey. There
has to another brand that is comparable, does anyone
know.=20

***Osprey's glitch****
I'm already using Osprey 230 cards. Now get this, the
only way to get them to work with FMS is to unistall
the current driver and then install the 2000 driver.
Now when you install the 2000 drivers, you lose a lot
of the extra functionality of the card. Additionally,
the preview video with the 2000 driver is very choppy.
I'm affraid that this is altimately affecting my video
I am publishing, which is also choppy and rather
fuzzy. Emailed Osprey to see if they have updated
drivers but have not heard back.

Any feedback on the matter would be appreciated,
Steve

Steven,

I have the Osprey 500 DV card, it works great with FMS 2 and my DV cam
or DV deck. I Haven't had to do any of the things that you have spoken
about. I do remember that after installing the driver I also had to
install some software that came with the CD before it would connect to
FMS 2.

Does the Osprey help you deliver a higher quality live stream? If so,
how would you characterize the uptick? The equivalent of 10% higher
datarate? 20%? 30%?

TIA,

Hi Aaron,

Did you have to run a Flash Player file to encode to the FMS app?

Thanks,

Phil

All I have done is connected my DV cam/DV deck to the osprey card
using s-video and then go to Bill's school app and record the stream.
I will give you the url in a little, I don't have time to look it up
just now.

I have to say that I've been using an old Osprey 210 with FCS1.5 and now
FMS2 and have never had a problem. I also use a standard IEEE firewire card
hooked up either directly to my DV Cam or run through a small DV switcher we
have and the video quality is great. I know that in order to use certain
capture devices with FCS or FMS apps your video drive needs to WDM
compatible, I think that was the acronym. Some older capture cards, like
the ATI all in wonders didn't use WDM drivers. Nor did the older Osprey
cards but Viewcast has since updated the drivers for all their cards. What
are the hardware specs of your PC? It might be a processor issue. I would
run your Flash capture app and watch the CPU usage.
