Hi,

This query is for anyone who's dealt with student accounts. We want
students to have access to their own server-side code but not anyone
else's. Is this possible with multiple vhosts? I've worked with the
Vhost.xml file to change destinations of where the applications go,
but how is it possible to set up separate vhosts for different people
on the same server. Currently we are setting up a FMS 2 Pro on a
Linux server (and we hope on a Windows server if You-Know-Who can get
our EDU upgrade license) and we're in a quandary about working out
accounts.

TIA,
Bill

It's no big deal to set this up.
You need to create a subdomain for each student and point it at your FMS
server IP. Then go through the vhost setup procedure as per the docs.
I usually copy the entire defaultvhost folder, rename it, edit vhost.xml and
application.xml to remap the apps directory and scriptlib (so each user can
have their own scriptlib).

Hit me offlist if you need any help.

Stefan,

Thank you. I will take you up on this. We've got a couple of test
servers (--really just old computers!) we'll start with and once I'm
able to set a couple without blowing a fuse, I'll work with our sys
admins to do the real thing. I will definitely contact you offlist if
I can't get it started right.

Take care,
Bill
