| My first entry. (I hope I am doing this correctly)
A response to,:[vbcol=seagreen]
I work at Golden Gate University's CyberCampus in San Francisco and
we also
had difficulty in getting pricing for FMS. We were running FCS 1.5,
but when we
went to upgrade to FMS I couldn't get past the change in the pricing
and justify the
increase. I guess I was just used to a lower dollar amount and more
choice.
In the end we decided to host externally with Influxis, at least
until things settle down
with Adobe and their plans with FMS.
How we use FMS: We use it as a way to allow instructors and students
to record and publish audio files
within their online course. I developed a few apps for this that act
as audio discussion boards
that can be administered fairly easily. I have to say, and not to
beat the drum with this much more, but the
one thing that will make FMS super useful in Higher Ed (aside from
allowing to record video
using the VP6 codec) is being able to transcode .flv audio to .mp3.
This will allow us to move some of the streams to mp3 so that
students can
listen to their instructor on the go using a portable...
