Recording Audio/Video in Flash...
|

| Hi...
I was wondering if you could shed some light for me...
What I need to do is to create an app that can record the video over the we=
b cam
and save it as SWF file, and record the audio and save it as MP3 file...
I first thought that FMS can do that but it looks like you can only save FLV
file via FMS...
Another option is to do the whole thing in .NET but I was not able to find =
any
library to do that... It'd be good if you know of any...
I'd appreciate it if you could give me some ideas on how to achieve this...
It'd be great if I can do all that in Flash but .NET is another option...
Thank you very much...
Jason

| Visual Basic had some great API's for integrating with DirectX audio and
video 5 years ago, so I'm sure by now .NET has even better ones for doing
so. It'd require that the user has .NET installed on their machine as well
as DirectX, but you'd get a nice API, hardware acceleration, and it'd record
in the Windows Media format. Not sure about seperating the tracks, but I'm
sure it's possible.

| I just cannot find a place to hide from you, JesterXL... I see you
everywhere... and I really appreciate your help for the whole community... =
;)
Okay... Maybe I am just thinking way too broad... =20
What about FMS??? Is there any way to save the audio/video via FMS in the
format that I want???
(The last time I used FCS is when I was first playing with the chat demo so=
it's
been quite a while already... and I am sure there has been lots of changes =
in
this world...)
If I cannot get the specific file format, can I at least use FMS to create =
FLV
files for video & audio??? Can you guide me to any resource for that proce=
ss???
Thank you very much...

| Hi Jason,
You can convert FLV to SWF for the video serverside. Just look for flv2swf
on google. So you can use FMS2 for that. For audio Adobe seems to be working
on some conversion. Some people are already experimenting with FLV2MP3, just
look at some recent threads about it. But is not an easy task. Good luck!
Kind regards,

| Cool... Thanks, Mark...
What I have found out so far...
FLV2SWF
http://www.flv2swf.de/english.htm
FLV2MP3
http://etudiant.epita.fr/~founad_m/flv2mp3/# <-- Debian only version...
There were lots of talks on converting FLV to MP3 because FMS uses
Sorenson's proprietary codec... I'll need to do more research on this
portion cuz I'll be needing Windows version...
