Author video conference problems with Mac - maybe flash player

Good morning list,

this mail is for you, mac gurus out there

We are experiencing a very troublesome problem with our conferencing
system running on mac platforms.

ok, forgive the known audio bug (which is horrible... can't use low
sample rates), we found out that flash player "speed" affects audio and
video during live conference.

When using Safari browser you can't access main menu because that will
freeze the flash application, thus leading to huge delay and garbled
audio. (both on ppc and intel macs)
Too bad because safari is TWICE as fast as any other browser on mac.

So we use (have to use) firefox.
Firefox runs nice... but overall cpu usage for mac flash app is VERY slow.
Any "simple" 20fps animation can't be played correcty (at 20fps) because
cpu usage goes 100%.
This happens both on ppc/intel macs (on intel we are using the 8.00.27
universal binary version).

This would be no big deal with animations... problem arise when we are
using live conference.
On mac when cpu usage goes 100% you won't be able to understand audio
feed and you will get very inconsistent delays on live stream... delay
goes up and down from 0 to 4 seconds (on lan).

I'd like to know if any of you encountered the same problems and if
there is something we can do about this. (we can reproduce everythin on
G4 1.5hhz and G5 macs too).

Thanks in advance,

Dario De Agostini
