| Hi,
Does anybody know if audiofiles in FLV-format at 48Khz kan be played
correctly through FMS2 (if so, how?)? A client of ours gets strange
soundbehaviour with 48Khz audio. As far as I could see 48Khz is not
supported (44Khz is maximum)... Is it correct that 48Khz cannot be streamed
correctly with FMS2 or is something wrong wit the clientside for instance?

| Hi Mark,
This doesn't really have to do with FMS as it does the player. I
believe the Flash Player can only decode 5,8,11,22, and 44 kHz Nelly
Moser Audio. I don't believe we support encoding or decoding 48kHz. If
Dave Simmons sees this he's a more definitive word, but FMS doesn't even
look a the kHz of the audio, so I believe this is an issue with the
player.

| Yeah, that's correct. From what I read, the flash player only reliably
accepts audio in 11, 22, and 44. We had some people upload mp3s in other
sample rates and they sounded like the chipmunks or it got really slow
depending on the sample rate.=20

| That's correct - the Flash player can only support 5khz, 8khz (Mac has a
bug, avoid 8khz), 11khz, 22khz and 44khz sampling rates. Anything else
will sound bad, so you'll need to convert the files in some other app.

| I can't remember any changes offhand in Flash 9, but the real way to
check it is on http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer9/ with the
beta 3 release. There should be some info there about any new features.
After that, it's all fuzzy plans I don't know about and couldn't discuss
in any case. I for now you'll have to work with those sampling rates.

So this means that both FLV-files and MP3-files cannot be played at 48Khz
within the FlashPlayer if it is streamed by FMS2?

That's correct - the Flash player can only support 5khz, 8khz (Mac has a
bug, avoid 8khz), 11khz, 22khz and 44khz sampling rates. Anything else will
sound bad, so you'll need to convert the files in some other app.

Yeah, that's correct. From what I read, the flash player only reliably
accepts audio in 11, 22, and 44. We had some people upload mp3s in other
sample rates and they sounded like the chipmunks or it got really slow
depending on the sample rate.

Hi Mark,
This doesn't really have to do with FMS as it does the player. I believe
the Flash Player can only decode 5,8,11,22, and 44 kHz Nelly Moser Audio. I
don't believe we support encoding or decoding 48kHz. If Dave Simmons sees
this he's a more definitive word, but FMS doesn't even look a the kHz of the
audio, so I believe this is an issue with the player.

Subject: [FlashComm] 48Khz audio
Hi,
Does anybody know if audiofiles in FLV-format at 48Khz kan be played
correctly through FMS2 (if so, how?)? A client of ours gets strange
soundbehaviour with 48Khz audio. As far as I could see 48Khz is not
supported (44Khz is maximum)... Is it correct that 48Khz cannot be streamed
correctly with FMS2 or is something wrong wit the clientside for instance?

You can't play 48khz mp3s in Flash at all.
Thanks,
Phillip
