Windows Server 2003 - Web Edition Confirmation

| Scott, thanks for the note.
But I am still wondering if anyone on the list is actually using, or have
used, the Web Edition (of Windows Server 2003 R2) to run FMS2. I do not mean
to be a pain but I have to make a significant cash expenditure base on this
info, so I just want to be sure.
Also, if I were to uses a AMD64 instead of the recommended Intel proc. Would
this cause problems?
I called Adobe/Macromedia sales support but all they can do is read what is
already on their web site back to me. Very frustrating.
Thanks for any further help anyone can give.
Robin

Should be ok, fms doesn't use 2003 security principals, and that is the
only difference between web and standard.

Does anyone know if the Web Edition of Windows Server 2003 is capable
for
running FMS2? It is not listed under system requirements on the Adobe
site.
Thanks
Robin

| Robin,
It works fine. The only limit you'll have with FMS on web edition of 2K3
is the 2GB limit on RAM for the OS.
AMD vs Intels' cpus are transparent to these kinds of applications.. you
should have zero issues relevant to your choice of Web Edition.

| Robin,
We've been running FMS2 for about 7 months on Windows Server 2003.
Here's one of our test sites where we're running some chroma screen
tests to give you an idea of FMS2 VP6 video output:
http://poobah.hartford.edu/flashcom...cations/iitusb/
Also, I've developed materials for several clients using this
particular server. I'm not sure whether it's the Web Edition or just
plain vanilla Win Server 2003. From the start this one has been
flawless as far as installation and performance.
HTH,
Bill
