Hi list,
Is there such a product as a hi-end webcam? Something which may have near DV
quality but comes as a webcam with USB/Firewire connection?

The higher res it can capture the better.

Stefan

Try the Apple iSight. It has a 1/4" CCD and gives you a much nicer picture
than your average cam. Fire wire only, 640 x 480.

Thanks,
Apart from that is there anything else I could consider? Something that
supports a higher resolution even?

Hi Stefan,

I've been using both the iSight and Logitech Orbit on my iMac, and I
can get pretty good resolution with both. Let take samples of each--
and my DV to show you the difference.....back in a Flash!

Thx,
Maybe I should add that my requirements target a standalone kiosk app, so
bandwidth is no issue. The display is a huge Plasma screen - hence the
resolution.

I don't think I can use a DV cam because we'll need to hide the cam as much
as possible. I'm just brainstorming atm... Open to ideas.

Hi Stefan,

DV doesn't have to mean big cameras - see these links for iSight sized DV quality cams
http://www.cameras4sports.co.uk/
http://www.actioncameras.co.uk/

I'm sure there are places in other countries.
