| Naicu,
I tried it on Fedora w/ no luck, and so I got RH 5 and it installed
with no problems. Jake has been able to install it on different
flavors of Linux and probably knows how to do it with Fedora, et al.

| I'm running FMS (not sure what version) on Fedora Core 4. I had to jump
through a few small hoops to get it to install and it runs fine except for
one issue that I have posted about here.
Occasionally I get a message in /var/log/messages that "there was no Master
process found or multiple masters". I end up restarting FMS and it happens
about ever 2 weeks with a light duty server.
If somone could help to resolve that issue, I'd be very happy with running
it on Fedora.
Thanks,
Michael

We have run it on Scientific Linux 4.2 (i386) with no problem, and plan to use CentOS 4.3, without expecting any problems. These are both RHEL4 clones.

| The real key I found is making sure you have all the libs installed. The
problematic ones tend to be the libnspr, libplc4,and libplds4 libs.
Other than that you should be fine.

| Here are some old instructions I wrote up on installing FMS2 to a new Fedora
Core 4 system...
1. Install Fresh Fedora Core 4 (or any Fedora system).
2. Take all defaults and make sure to install all development tools and
editors (does not need to be configured as a server)
3. Copy Flash install files to system into a directory as listed below and
then follow script.
# COMMANDS TO RUN:
ls
cd /
mkdir flash_downloads
cd flash_downloads/
# Copy flash install files here (FlashMediaServer2.tar.gz)
# Make sure up2date works
up2date
rpm --import /usr/share/rhn/RPM-GPG-KEY

# Install dependencies
yum install libnspr4.so
yum install libstdc++.so.5

locate libnspr4.so

try it out) LOL

| Re needed libraries: I forgot to mention that I needed to "yum install
compat-libstdc++-33" for FMS 2.0.1 on Scientific Linux and CentOS 4.x.
This will be obvious when you try to install.

would FMS be faster given the same HW... ;-)

Actually with "faster" I meant being able to

We didn't try with fms2.
But we tried (a lot) with fcs 1.5.2
windows was MUCH faster than linux there too. (cpu usage, ram usage, etc)
(but it's due to fcs implementation)
