There are a couple of voicemails in a users account that I am hoping to
retrieve so that it can be stored as well as given to someone for legal
reasons. I cannot seem to find an easy way to retrieve this voicemail. I
know it is stored on an exchange message store of course but not sure of the
best way to access this. Any recommendations? I am sure I can do it in a
round about way, but thought I would ask to see if there was an easy way.

Regards.

UM or VM. Does the user have access to the VMail? Can you just reset
the password and go in and save the attachment? Or you could give
yourself exchange admin rights and put yourself on there account and go
in that way. Can you get to the web interface to download it?

Brad seems to be on to something here in regards to accessing the M: drive.
Within the M: drive there is the domain name and then the MBX folder.
Inside the MBX folder there are each individual mailbox folder, however no
matter what login I use I am unable to access any of these folders. Only
think I have not tried is the actual administrator account on the local box
itself, I have tried the highest level of domain access we have but even it
has no permissions to access these folders.

You want to be very careful when snooping in the Exchange 2000 M drive.
If you do not see it listed in the folder directory it may have been
hidden per the recommendations of Microsoft.

I'm not sure with 2000 but with 2003. Domain admin does not have
permission to get to email accounts. Explicitly denied. This is by
design as I'm told. You want exchange admin.

If you're also the Exchange admin, I think the easiest way is to go into
their mailboxes. If not, then the Exchange admin can easily retrieve
those voicemails. I had to do the same a while back, but I'm also the
Exchange admin, so that made things easier.
