Author Turning off Playback of "Undeliverable" message in

All,

I've figured out how to turn off the feature which plays back read
receipts on the handset when checking messages. However, I have not
found the option to turn off "Undeliverable" messages. For example. If
I sent out an email to a Distribution List and some members have full
mailboxes or no longer exist, I get the standard Exchange bounce back.
This message (if marked as new) shows up as "new" message if I'm calling
in. This is somewhat distracting for our end users since they only want
to hear about voicemail, not email when checking their Voicemail over
the phone. Is there an additional option to turn this off?

We're on Unity 4.x on top of Exchange 2003.

Thanks,
-Anthony

I was pretty sure Unity treats NDRs and receipts the same, but maybe
that's just in Domino.

Have you checked the advanced settings tool?

Yes, checked the advanced settings tool as that's where I turned off the
normal read receipts. I thought the NDRs were treated the same as well,
but maybe not in Exchange? Is this something I can submit as a Feature
Request/Bug if it isn't already fixed in a subsequent rev?

There are 2 options in advanced settings tool for
receipts, but I think NDRs are still processed since
they are different. I don't know if that other option
will kill the NDRs also but there was much discussion
on this on the cisco unified messaging forum on the
cisco forums in past. You may want to try searching
there, or posting question with unity version info,
etc and see what they come back with now. The other
thing you can try doing is make rule on mailbox on
exchange to move those types of messages to another
folder where unity won't see them. =

I'll take a look on the forums. The only other setting I saw in
Advanced Settings was specific to Voicemail NDRs, not to email NDRs.

Thanks again for the suggestion. I'd like to avoid making rules if
possible, but that is a valid workaround.

To Exchange a voicemail is simply an email with a wav attachment. I
can't imagine there is any difference between a VM NDR and an email NDR.

I searched the forums for those other discussions...

In Unity 4.0(5) and later there is an additional
option in the Advanced Settings Tool that lets you
exclude ALL receipts which includes NDRs - this option
is not available in 4.0(4). Only 4.0(5) and 4.1(1). =

Thanks for the tip. I guess we'll upgrade to 4.0(5) after we get our
users migrated over.
