I am trying to troubleshoot an issue at one of our remote sites, they
are suggesting that calls across the PSTN are sounding as if the other
end is distant and sounds like they are far away and down a tunnel.
Initially they had a echo issue which seems to have been resolved by
adding a echo cancel coverage command. The voice port is currently
configured as

voice-port 1/0:15

input gain 6

output attenuation -6

echo-cancel coverage 32

cptone GB

Can anyone suggest any further configuration that may help?

Regards

Nick

You should be looking at the levels, and adjusting the gain, attenuation and coverage to get an Echo Return Loss of at least 6db. Once you have that, you should be good to go. The telephony troubleshooting book by ciscopress has an excellent section on
doing this.
