| We are getting a lot of MTP resource errors such as below, at present we
have on Media resource group set up with Annunciator, Conference bridge,
Media Termination Point and Music On Hold. We are currently adding this
MR group into the devices of all our remote sites.
The device pool on these Media Resources is set to London which is our
HQ, should I be setting up these resources for each remote site
selecting the correct device pool and then adding them into there own
Media Resource group per site.

| This error would suggest that you are using MTP resources on some H.323 devices, and that all of them have been used. Do you have H.323 gateways with "use MTP" checked in the configuration?
MTP's are used to "anchor" a call from an H.323 device that does not have the ability to support supplementary services such as hold or music on hold. Without an MTP, a call from a device like this would drop the second someone would attempt a transfer,
hold etc.

| You also get these errors when CM tries to invoke a transcoder where
none is available. The best thing to do is grab a CCM trace that
covers the time of one of the errors and see what's going on. If you
need help analyzing feel free to unicast it to me.

| As Ryan stated these are usually a problem when a transcoder is being
invoked and not available. If this was during normal call setup then
the call would be disconnected. I have seen many cases where these
errors show up when MoH is being invoked. For example, if the MoH
server is not configured for the G.729 codec but the Region config
would use G.729 between the MoH server and the held device then a
transcoder would be invoked. If none are available you will see this
error but the call won't be disconnected there just wouldn't be MoH.
You can either enable the G.729 codec or provide a transcoder for the
device being held. Detailed CCM traces show this issue too.
