Hello,

We are having a challenge with an issue encrypting the phones and are in
need of quantity 2 - KEY-CCM-ADMIN-K9=. This small item, as well as
others, is causing a very serious customer sat problem. I could explain
later. We have placed an order with cisco but need to wait for a 21 day
lead time.

Do I have any other options? Do we need "Cisco" USB keys or do we have a
workaround way of using something else?

Thanks Much

Jim K

To be honest I have no experience with this, and in fact this was the first
I heard of a cisco usb key token, so I became interested in what this was
about.

According to this page:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products...0801f8e18.shtml

*Q.* Do I have to have an eToken to enable Security functionality in
CallManager?

*A.* Yes, an eToken is required to turn on security functionality.

Now granted this is what they tell you, is there another option sorry but
can't help you as i just don't know.

Good luck, curious to hear about what you learn.

Yes you do need the cisco parts but I'm amazed there is a 21 day lead =

time on them. The USB tokens are used to generate the CTL file so =

without them you cannot even begin to use CM authentication/encryption.

We were thinking of installing the CTL file and certificates on the
phones but not encrypting the voice streams due to the fact that we need
to record calls, do you think this would be useful as from what I
understand hardly anyone has bothered to do this?

Authentication is just a way of hardening your CM server. It will
prevent people from using clients like IP Blue to get a phone on your
system that isn't really supposed to be there (if this is a concern
for you). It does add a bit of administrative overhead so you'll
have to decide if the benefits make it worth it for you.

I can't really speak to how many people are using it as my only
exposure to that comes when it breaks
